Appreciation at Work (AAW), the Wichita, KS-based organization founded by psychologist Dr. Paul White and known for the book The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace, has launched two new initiatives aimed at helping consultants and organizations improve employee engagement, retention, and workplace culture. According to the company, the programs are designed to bring structure, measurement, and scalability to the concept of “authentic appreciation” through processes refined over more than a decade.
Available in 24 languages, The 5 Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace book has now sold over 800,000 copies.
The company’s two new offerings—the AAW Premier Partner Program for consultants and the Appreciation at Work™ Certified Workplace for employers—reflect what the company describes as rising demand for practical, research-based tools to address workplace challenges that have intensified in recent years.
The AAW Premier Partner Program is positioned by the company as a way for consultants, coaches, and HR professionals to stand out in a crowded marketplace by offering clients and/or employers a defined methodology for culture improvement. AAW states that the program provides ongoing training, assessments, and access to a structured framework for helping organizations incorporate appreciation into their management practices. According to AAW, the Premier Partner Program includes:
- A recognized certification intended to demonstrate expertise in applying the company’s appreciation model
- Monthly training sessions and a private practitioner community
- A 40% recurring commission on Certified Workplace enrollments facilitated by the partner
- Discounts on the company’s MBAI assessments
- Opportunities to contribute blogs or appear on the forthcoming AAW podcast
For employers, AAW has introduced the Appreciation at Work™ Certified Workplace, an annual certification the company describes as a “globally recognized mark of excellence” for teams that demonstrate strong cultures of appreciation, trust, and respect.
Unlike conventional recognition programs, AAW emphasizes that its certification evaluates whether employees feel genuinely valued through an anonymous survey and benchmarks derived from its proprietary Appreciation at Work workplace survey. To earn certification, organizations must:
- Complete a culture brief
- Have employees participate in the survey
- Achieve a score of at least 70%
- Complete an online or in-person train-the-trainer curriculum
- Receive their digital badge and marketing toolkit
The company states that the certification process provides organizations with an AAW Rating (AAWR) score, comparative benchmarks, and insights into areas of strength and improvement. Certified organizations also receive year-long leadership training, including sessions on appreciating remote workers, managing conflict, and building trust.
AAW positions the certification as a way for employers to attract and retain talent by signaling a commitment to a people-centered workplace. The company cites its own research indicating that a lack of appreciation, rather than pay, is a leading contributor to employee turnover.
Packages for certification range from $2,497 annually for companies with fewer than 50 employees to $11,997 for organizations up to 500 employees, with enterprise pricing available upon request.
